Design
Research

I research so I can design. Research supplies certain parameters and constraints that I enjoy sifting through in a brainstorm. Moreover, research makes design work relevant beyond the limited sphere of designers and their friends.

I was involved in design research projects at Microsoft Research and Adaptive Path. The work for the latter cannot be shared, and what could be shared from the former has been channeled through the following two academic papers:

1. Comicboards: Using Comics as Proxies for Participatory Design with Children, ACM SIG CHI 2007

2. Designing Games to Address 'Mute English' Among Children in China, HCI International 2007
